Descrizione

Con una lunghezza di 4,3-4,8 m e un peso di 1,5-2 t, il Chasmosaurus era un ceratopsiano di taglia media. Come tutti i ceratopsiani, era puramente erbivoro. Inizialmente doveva chiamarsi Protorosaurus, ma questo nome era stato precedentemente pubblicato per un altro animale. Tutti gli esemplari di Chasmosaurus sono stati raccolti dalla Formazione del Parco dei Dinosauri del Parco Provinciale dei Dinosauri dell'Alberta, in Canada.
